  What TV shows did you miss out on as a dub?

  for years i missed out on "the cosby show" and "cheers" cuz they were on meeting night.

  caught em years later on reruns.

  some of those cosby shows still seem new to me.

  As a jw kid - ghost busters, the cartoon.

  The annoying thing was we were allowed watch it until some elder's kid complained.
  Then it was banned.

  i've only got one sibling and she's a dub.

  " line a few times but recently there was a slightly different slant to it.

  she said to me that if i find something better than the dubs then to let her know but for the moment she thinks the jws are the best of a bad lot.

  I've only got one sibling and she's a dub. She has given me the "where else can I go?" line a few times but recently there was a slightly different slant to it. She said to me that if I find something better than the dubs then to let her know but for the moment she thinks the jws are the best of a bad lot. I'm a completely non-religous person now and agnostic bordering on atheist and I know that she finds that a frightening position. She'd not like that lack of faith/belief to happen to her so she's sticking with what she knows is a very flawed religion in lieu of having nothing.

  Now what I want to know is, is that more dub-speak? Is her asking me to keep an eye out for an alternative religion just her way of faking open-mindedness or is she looking for an out? I'm not sure. She misses a good few meetings when she wants to, likes a night out and a drink and doesn't really let jw stuff get in the way of her life but occasionally she does get in to the religion a bit more enthusiastically and can be defensive at times when we talk about that subject.

  Any one got any experinces along this line?

  Any religious people out there who can recommend a religion?!?

  They had a brief report on this cult and the leader's jail term in a Humanist mag we subscribe to. They had a picture of Wayne/Michael with the caption: "He's not the Messiah. He's a very naughty boy!"

  A counting time question

  i was wondering, if a jw gets into a conversation say with 3 people for 30 minutes does the jw get to count an hour and half?

  or how does that work when it is not traditional fs?.

  i was thinking back to a friend who worked with a jw and they worked with their hands so it allowed much conversation at work.

  It should be counted just once (ie 30mins, or 1 hours in the scearios above) but many jws fluff their time sheets.

  i haven't seen any comments on this yet.... in the december 15, 2008 "study" version of the watchtower, in the last study article (the one to be covered march 1), paragraph 14 reads thusly in part:.

  "...one january evening, the man asked his wife, jodi, what she knew of jehovah's witnesses.

  she was a catholic, and she said that the only thing she linked to the witnesses to was "door-to-door preaching".

  I'm sure lots of people do google dubs. I'm sure about 95% are inoculated against them by doing so.
